In the DVWP toolbar, the Filter for Field A will show Choice1 12 times, Choice2 15 times, and Choice3 10 times. The list will then have 12 rows with Choice1, 15 rows with Choice2, and 10 rows with Choice3. So, for example, in the list Field A will have a Choice field with Choice1, Choice2, Choice2. The drop-downs for the Filter functions will usually display all instances of data for that field, even if the original list field is a Choice field. It works, but there's a quirk that I'd really like to clear up. The department this belongs to really likes the addition of the DVWP toolbar with the sort/group/filter options. There's nothing complicated about it - the only reason for using the DVWP is to apply Conditional Formatting to list columns to provide a visual scorecard. I've successfully created a web part page with a Data View Web Part that pulls data from a single list. We're on WSS 3.0 and I use SharePoint Designer for customization.
